Hearing Loss From Music too LoudUnfortunately, music can also harm your hearing. When listening to music for too long at high levels, it can damage or hurt the hair cells inside the cochlea (part of your ear). Structures called the stereocilia sit on the end of the hair cells and transmit electric signals to your brain to hear. Noises that are too loud can then tear open the stereocilia which causes the electric signals to be sent rapidly to your brain.
